Privacy Policy
The Intelligence Horizon
Last updated: 17.10.2026
This policy explains what personal data The Intelligence Horizon (the "game") handles, where it is kept, who can see it and how you can have it deleted. It covers the desktop app (including on Steam), the browser version and the official game servers we run.
Who we are. The game is made by Alžan Turlybekov, a sole trader registered in the Czech Trade Licensing Register (IČO 07078994), with a registered business address at Zlatnická 281, 250 73 Jenštejn, Czech Republic ("we", "us"), who is the controller of your personal data. For anything about your data, write to support@theintelligencehorizon.com.
The short version
- There is no account, email address or password. Your device makes a random player profile the first time you play.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, tracking, cookies or crash reporting, and we do not sell or share your data for marketing.
- To play together, a game server keeps your player name, your profile ID, the last IP address you connected from, your games and the chat in them.
- Who holds that data depends on who runs the server: you, a friend who hosts, someone running a public server, or us on an official server. This policy covers what we hold. Other hosts and operators are responsible for theirs.
- You can ask us to delete your data from our servers at any time.
Where your data is kept
| Where you play | Who stores your game data |
|---|---|
| On your own computer, alone or in hot-seat | Only your computer. Nothing is sent to us. |
| In a game hosted by a friend (over Steam or your local network) | Your friend's computer, which runs the game server. We never receive it. |
| On a public server run by someone else | That server's operator. |
| On an official server run by us (we do not run one yet) | Us, as described below. |
What data is handled
Your player profile
- Profile ID. A random identifier, or
steam-followed by your Steam ID when you play through Steam. - Secret key. A random key your device keeps; servers store only a one-way hash of it.
- Player name. What you chose, or your Steam name when you play through Steam.
- Times. When the profile was created and when it last connected.
- Rating. Your rating and number of rated games, on servers that rate games (the desktop app does not).
Your IP address
- The server stores the last IP address your profile connected from.
- It is used to keep abusive players out (server bans can name an IP address) and, on servers that set a limit, to limit connections from one address.
- Servers do not log your IP address in their activity logs.
Your games
- Each saved game holds the players' names, profile IDs and seats, every move, and who is host, a member or banned from that game.
- A game also keeps its chat: the last 200 messages, each with the sender's name, profile ID and time.
- When a game ends, any of its players can download the whole game as a file, including all players' names.
Steam (desktop app only, when Steam is running)
- The app reads your Steam ID and Steam name to sign you in.
- When you host, the app publishes a Steam lobby with your Steam ID, your name, the game's name and its seats. Friends-only games are visible to your Steam friends; public games are visible to every player of the game on Steam.
- It sets your Steam status ("Hosting a game", "Playing with friends").
- Game traffic between friends, chat included, may travel through Valve's network relay.
- Valve's use of this data is covered by the Steam Privacy Policy: https://store.steampowered.com/privacy_agreement/.
On your device
- The game keeps your profile (ID, secret key and name) and your settings on your own device: language, sound, display and tutorial progress. Recent servers and window position are kept in the desktop app only.
- The browser version uses the browser's local storage; the desktop app uses a settings file. This data stays on your device.
We do not collect: email addresses, real names, dates of birth, contacts, payment details (Steam handles purchases), location beyond what an IP address implies, device identifiers, or any analytics.
Why we use it
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis (where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies) |
|---|---|---|
| Letting you play online: keeping your seat, your games and their chat | profile, name, games, chat | performing our agreement with you (the game's licence) |
| Keeping games safe and fair: bans, connection limits, stopping someone taking over your profile | IP address, profile ID, key hash | our legitimate interest in a safe service |
| Ratings on servers that rate games | rating, rated games | performing our agreement with you |
We do not make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Who can see it
Other players in your games can see:
- your player name, seat and online status;
- your chat messages;
- your rank on rated servers;
- your profile ID, because the game sends it to other members of a game. For Steam players it contains the Steam ID.
Everyone on the same server can see your name in the list of open games when you host a public game.
The operator of the server can see everything stored on it, including your last IP address.
Valve sees what is described under Steam above.
We use no other processors and we do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data if the law requires it.
How long it is kept
- Games and their chat: kept until the host deletes the game or every player leaves it. Finished games are not deleted automatically.
- Profiles, including the last IP address: kept until you ask us to delete them. We do not yet delete inactive profiles automatically.
- Server bans: kept for as long as the ban applies.
- Data on your device: kept until you delete it.
- In a browser, clear the site's data.
- On the desktop, uninstalling may leave your settings and saved games in the app's data folder: on Windows,
%APPDATA%\The Intelligence Horizon. Delete that folder to remove them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act), you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your data;
- correct it (you can also change your name in the game);
- delete it;
- restrict or object to its use;
- move it to someone else.
You can also complain to your data protection authority.
To ask, write to support@theintelligencehorizon.com. Include your player name and your player ID, which is shown under Credits & legal → Privacy in the game (Steam players can give their Steam profile link instead). We may ask you to confirm the request from the same device. We answer within one month.
When we delete your data from our servers:
- your profile goes, with its name, key hash, last IP address and rating;
- your chat messages are removed;
- your seats in saved games are renamed "Former player", so the other players' games stay intact.
If we banned you, we may keep the ban record for as long as it is needed to keep you out.
Children
The game is not directed at children under 13, and it has no age check. Games include chat with other players. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
- Servers store only a one-way hash of your secret key, never the key itself.
- Game data is saved on the server's own disk.
- No system is perfectly secure. Keep your device and its game data private, because whoever has your secret key can play as you.
Our website
Our website (theintelligencehorizon.com) uses no cookies, analytics, tracking or third-party scripts, and its fonts and images are served from the site itself. Like any website, its hosting provider receives your IP address and browser details to deliver the pages and keep the site secure, and may keep them briefly in server logs. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages by Cloudflare, Inc. (https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/), which processes this data on our behalf. Cloudflare may process it outside the EU; it is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and also uses the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the game or on its store page.
